Time to Think About Women's Rights!

The summer has come and gone and we are here ready for a new election. I hope all of you are aware that Mc Cain and Sara Palin are against abortion. Palin is against abortion even in cases of rape and incest. This is amazing to me- what is more amazing is that women can call themselves feminists who believe this. !!!!! If you are old enough to vote I urge you to look at the facts about women's rights before you vote- The Obama ticket is for women's rights and Biden Obama's Vice Presidental running mate actually wrote and was instrumental in passing the Stop Violence Against Women bill to protect girls and women!! Here is what Joe Biden has to say about that bill:

"I consider the Violence Against Women Act the single most significant legislation that I’ve crafted during my 35-year tenure in the Senate. Indeed, the enactment of the Violence Against Women Act in 1994 was the beginning of a historic commitment to women and children victimized by domestic violence and sexual assault. Our nation has been rewarded for this commitment. Since the Act’s passage in 1994, domestic violence has dropped by almost 50%, incidents of rape are down by 60%, and the number of women killed by an abusive husband or boyfriend is down by 22%. Today, more than half of all rape victims are stepping forward to report the crime. And since we passed the Act in 1994 over a million women have found justice in our courtrooms and obtained domestic violence protective orders." – Senator Joe Biden

What are your thoughts on this election? My biggest political concern has always been women's rights- Love xo Dr. Patti

Thank God for the suffragettes!

Can you even imagine being a woman and not being able to vote?

Thanks to the suffragettes, America has women voters and wide range of women candidates, and we are a better country for it!

Women have voices and choices! Just like men.

But few people know ALL of the suffering that our suffragettes had to go through to get the vote for women, and what life was REALLY like for women before they did.

Now you can subscribe FREE to an exciting e-mail series that goes behind the scenes in the lives of eight of the world's most famous women to reveal the shocking and sometimes heartbreaking truth of HOW women won the vote.

Discover how the cross-currents created by two beautiful and powerful suffragettes, a First Lady, a First Daughter, author Edith Wharton, dancer Isadora Duncan and two presidential mistresses set the stage for women to FINALLY win the vote.

Thrilling, dramatic, sequential short story e-mail episodes have readers from all over the world raving about the original historical series, "The Privilege of Voting."

I think that far too many people vote without fully understaning the parties positions on important topics, and purely on the big ticket bribes they offer on their pledge cards. We have just had elections here too. New government elected- so its both exciting and scary times. And we no longer have a female primeminister- so will be interesting to see what that means for women and their rights in this country.

I am 100% against abortion, but I don't think a woman should have an abortion even if it is rape or incest. I am a victim of incest and if I had become pregnant, I am pretty confident that I would have gone through with it and given the baby up for adoption. I am all for women's rights, but I have very strong feelings against abortion. It is not the baby's fault that she was unwanted. It isn't the woman's fault either, but does an innocent life really have to be killed just because a man overpowered a woman through violence or manipulation? I don't think so. The baby had no control on how she/he was concepted. I'm sorry, but I disagree with this.

well as my mother would say : "That's what makes horse racing." She meant that different people have different opinions. We can agree to disagree. It does seem that there are very strong feelings about abortion. I am totally and very strongly PRO CHOICE. I am pro - abortion when a girl or woman wants it. But I respect the opinions of the girls on the blog. I think it is very complicated to carry a baby that is the result of a rape or incest. But I have known of girls who have loved their babies- when they were a result of rape or incest. The girls are amazing and wonderful. I am glad you gals have strong opinions! xx dr. p

Yes, I do not know what I would have done for sure if I had become pregnant as a result of the incest, but I definitely would like to think that I would be strong enough to go through with it. But I could understand if a girl had an abortion because of rape or incest, but I couldn't help feel bad for that child. I don't approve, but I can understand for sure. ♥Ang
